Staying Safe

Okay, it might not be the most fun topic in the world, but it's time to talk about safety.

The jailbreak challenge is an opportunity for you to win a large donation to a charity of your choice but staying safe is extremely important. You must be able to return to the starting point before the 24-hour time limit has elapsed and, along the way, you'll be responsible for your own well-being and any damage you cause.

While you're taking part in the challenge, stay vigilant when using public transport, crossing roads and streets, buying goods and finding accommodation. Participants in events such as these can use the craziest of tactics to win, but you should never put yourself in physical danger.

We advise everyone taking part to spend time researching and planning their routes before the event begins. Doing so should keep risks to a minimum. While it's not a requirement to take part in the challenge, you may want to consider taking out personal insurance. This will keep you protected should anything happen, and if you already have an insurance provider, contact them to let them know you're taking part in this event.

To register competitors who complete the challenge, giffgaff gameplan team members will be stationed at the Park Plaza Hotel at 239 Vauxhall Road from 6am to 12 midday on 24th June. You must arrive within this window of time in order for us to officially register you as having completed the challenge. If you can't make it back in time, or you wish to stop taking part in the challenge, notify a member of our team immediately by emailing us at, gameplanevents@giffgaff.co.uk.

For safety, participants can only take part in the jailbreak challenge in a group with at least one other person. Throughout the challenge, you will be prompted to update your GPS position via your phone.
