Reduce the costs and woes of lost luggage!

Here's some tips to reduce the costs, stress and woes of lost luggage.

Firstly if you have more than one piece of luggage divide your clothes between the bags you have. For instance if you are travelling with your other half with two bags put half of each of you clothes in one bag and the other halves in the other bag. And don't forget to split toiletries and cosmetics as well. This way if you do lose one bag you still have the clothes in the other bag to keep you going.

Put you name and contact details on a pieces of paper on top of the clothes in your each of your bags. This way if the luggage label gets ripped off whoever finds the bag and looks inside can contact you. However don't show your home address just phone numbers or email address.

Finally a security tip. On the outbound journey do not have your home address written on the reverse of the luggage label; ideally use one set of luggage labels on your outbound journey and another set for your return journey. This prevents anyone knowing where you home is should they get hold of your luggage label on your outbound journey.

If the worst does happen

In the event you do lose a bag, inform your carrier and/or the airport as well as your insurers. Also start keeping  notes on times and dates for you insurer.

Hopefully your bags won't get lost but if they do now at least it won't be as stressful!
