Free kids cooking course tesco

Free kids' cooking courses at Tesco cafésRegister & book online. Limited spaces available

Limited places

If you go online to Tesco's Eat Happy Project, you can book your child on to one of its free cooking courses (ages 5-7 or 8-11) taking place at 50 Tesco customer cafés (in larger stores, mostly Tesco Extra) throughout the school summer holidays.

The courses last for two hours a day, for three consecutive days. You'll need to accompany children aged under eight, but older kids can attend without a parent or guardian - Tesco says all staff have been trained and approved to work with children.

Spaces are given on a first-come, first-served basis, and last year they were snapped up well in advance of the courses, so book now if you're interested. Simply register and book the relevant course (find your nearest) and you'll be sent a confirmation email.

Tesco has yet to confirm how many places are left (booking opened on Fri 24 Jun), but when we checked on Tue 28 Jun, we found the majority of courses had spaces available, although some venues were completely booked up.

What do the courses involve?

The courses are led by home economists from the national charity, Children's Food Trust. Participants will use ingredients provided to cook simple and healthy meals, which they can take home along with a free apron and recipes.

When completing the booking form, you'll be asked whether you're happy for your child to be photographed during the course. Tesco asks that accompanying adults do not bring other children or adults to watch (to save space) and that children only take part if they can attend all three days.
