Free drink daily
Nothing beats a decent cuppa in the morning (or any time of day in fact), and there’s a way you can get yours completely free – you just need to live near a Waitrose.
If you’re someone that buys one from a coffee shop every working day of the week, you could save £800 in a year. That’s a latte money saved for little effort.
Basically, anyone who signs up for Waitrose’s free loyalty card can help themselves to a £2ish hot drink in store whenever they like (but only once a day, before you get too full of beans), and youdon’t need to be buying anything. It’s all explained in the video below.
How to get it
1) Sign up for a free MyWaitrose loyalty card, and you’ll receive it in the post.
2) Take the card into your local Waitrose store when you want a free tea or coffee. Show the card to staff at the till and they will scan it and give you a free cup.
3) Take your cup to the self-service drinks machine and choose from either Americano, cappuccino, latte, mocha, espresso or tea (if you want tea, you may need to ask staff for a tea bag as these aren’t usually available at the machine).
4) Then simply walk out of the store with your free drink – you don’t need to buy anything or return to the checkout.
Note: If you’re concerned about the environmental impact, Waitrose has confirmed you can supply your own reusable cup instead of taking a disposable one – but do remember to scan your MyWaitrose card first.
What’s the catch?
There isn’t really a catch, it’s a genuine freebie available at almost every Waitrose store (excludes Hazelmere, Battersea, Bagshot Road, Roehampton, Burgh Heath and Burnt Common).
Most stores have a self-service hot drinks machine, but where this isn’t the case – meaning you claim the free drink at the cafe/bakery/deli counter instead – you may be asked to buy something before you can have the freebie. This is all outlined in the full T&Cs on Waitrose’s website.
I hope you can start your day off right with a free caffeine fix from now on! See our Waitrose page for more deals from the retailer. And if you like free drinks, you can get free cocktails at Pitcher & Piano every month.
