Now that everyone’s phones are featureless black rectangles (at least the ones that aren’t flip phones or retro phones reimagined), we’re starting to see more retro elements return in the form of accessories. Phone charms, retro phone cases and even phone controllers are now the epitome of cool.

So without further ado, I’ve rounded up some of the best examples of this growing trend to help you break out as the retro king or queen that you are.

Emily in Paris-style phone case

A phone case that looks like an analogue camera, our first pick was spotted on Netflix’s Emily in Paris, in Lily Collins' lovely hands.

The retro camera case we’ve most often seen recommended comes via Awsaccy and is available for a range of iPhone and Android models.

It’s a great-looking retro phone case that is a surprisingly good replica of the real deal, so it’s no surprise to see how popular this model has become.

Spigen C1 Magfit case

Inspired by the G3 iMac, this series of iPhone cases offers a beautifully retro translucent design in a range of colours, though I’m particularly partial to the ‘bondi blue’ option.

As well as evoking that classic Apple all-in-one PC design, the case includes modern niceties like MagSafe charging and military-grade protection for an iPhone and its camera bump.

Lucboy Game Boy case

What’s better than a phone case that looks like a retro game console or controller? Answer: a phone case that is a retro game console.

This awesome retro phone case from Lucboy includes 36 games playable on a colour screen and buttons on the back of the case, letting you flip your phone over to while away the time.

A few variations on Lucboy’s case are available online for seemingly all recent iPhone models.

Retro phone charm

If you have a phone case with a hole on it, like the mute button on an iPhone, why not tie a phone charm to your case? There’s no better way to customise your phone.

There are a huge variety of options here, so I’ve linked to Etsy below where local sellers are sure to have crafted the design of your dreams. I’m partial to the cat figures shown above, but you could go for a sequence of beads or gems, a little figurine or a stuffed animal. The possibilities are endless and adorable.

Koss Porta Pro On-Ear Headphones

When it comes to retro headphones, there’s one solution that stands above the rest in terms of authenticity, comfort and sound quality.

Koss has been making the Porta Pros since 1984, and they’re still one of the most popular retro headphones today thanks to their unique mylar construction and on-ear design that makes them super comfortable to wear.

The default option here is the standard wired 3.5mm model, but Koss also makes a wireless Bluetooth model if your phone doesn’t come with a 3.5mm port. Sound quality is excellent for the price too, with the Porta Pros outperforming retro headphones that cost twice the price.

I’ve been a big fan of these headphones for years, and now that their retro appearance is back in fashion, there’s no better time to pick up a pair.
