4 minute read

- giffgaff’s new service is designed based on feedback from its initial trial phase
- The pure broadband product features three simple monthly rolling plans starting from £34 for ultimate flexibility, fast speeds and solid reliability
- Latest technology ensures uninterrupted upload and download speeds, as well as advanced security and problem-solving support
giffgaff has announced that after trials and consultations with its members, it will be officially launching its full-fibre service to the UK.
Earlier this year, giffgaff recruited over 500 members of the public to trial the beta version of its broadband service, and the results of the trial have informed its current offering.
The move was in response to consumers expressing widespread dissatisfaction with other broadband products available - 70% of Brits admitted broadband issues affected their daily activities, which prompted giffgaff to join forces with its members to rewrite the rules of broadband.
When surveyed, monthly rolling plans were rated highly by the trialists, who also said they found ‘bundles’ and unnecessary add-ons confusing, so giffgaff broadband is launching with just three simple, monthly rolling plans, giving members the freedom to come and go as they need.
Additionally, the process of switching to previous providers was highlighted as laborious, so One Touch Switch is fully implemented from launch, meaning it’s easier than ever for people to join giffgaff broadband.
The unreliability and slow speeds of other broadband services were common member complaints, so giffgaff broadband is powered by the latest and full-fibre technology. The new service also ensures fast upload and download speeds to suit any household and solid reliability.
giffgaff’s member-first approach has meant its broadband product and services have already achieved a high satisfaction score amongst trialists, with 92% of them claiming they would recommend it to a friend or colleague.
Starting at just £34 a month, the plans all feature symmetrical upload and download speeds to ensure giffgaff broadband can support whatever the household needs. There are currently no setup fees and no installation fees, so the price is exactly what members pay for their monthly plan.
Plan | Internet Speed | Price per Month | Suitability |
---|---|---|---|
Plan 1: FAST | 200 Mbps | £34 | Perfect for streaming, calling or gaming on one or two devices at a time |
Plan 2: FASTER | 500 Mbps | £36 | Fits families using multiple devices in multiple rooms |
Plan 3: FASTEST | 900 Mbps | £39 | Allows members to do almost anything on as many devices as they want |
giffgaff broadband has also teamed up with eero, an Amazon company, to make the home internet experience even better. eero provides fast, reliable, and secure whole-home connectivity with an easy-to-use app for network setup and management. eero also provides advanced security features and offers parents peace of mind with the ability to create individual profiles for their children and set website blockers and content filters.
There are plans to roll out additional broadband features in the future as giffgaff continues to address feedback from its members.
Ash Schofield, CEO of giffgaff, said:
“We’ve seen our mobile business go from strength to strength by harnessing the power of people, challenging the established way and improving it, and the same will be true for giffgaff broadband.
Our trialists wanted something simple, so we’re offering three simple, fair-value broadband plans with no confusing bundles or expensive phone lines. Long contracts were found to be restricting, so we’re offering the ultimate flexibility of monthly rolling plans, and trialists wanted less faff when it comes to switching, which they’ll get with One Touch Switch.
This is just the beginning in terms of developing our product, as we have lots of member insights we’re still exploring. We couldn’t have made it happen without our members, and our thanks go to our trialists for helping us deliver pure, reliable broadband, just the way they want it.”
giffgaff broadband will be powered by the latest fibre technology on nexfibre’s network, and will leverage Virgin Media O2’s award-winning broadband network in the future for a combined national scale offering, representing the biggest full fibre challenger to BT.
It’s now available in select locations across North West England, Yorkshire and the Humber and East Midlands, rolling out in the North East from October and then across more locations before the end of the year and into 2026.
