Save ££ on Everyday Items with Our Year-Long Savings Calendar

By Charlotte Yau

Do you know the best time to buy a printer or bananas? Certain goods are cheaper at different times of the year.

To help you save money, no matter what month of the year, we’ve scoured sales trends and seasonal data from across the internet to put together a calendar of the best times to buy the most popular items.

By early February, brands will announce their new models of electronic goods, meaning older units (such as office equipment or televisions) will become cheaper. Other discounts come when special days approach, such as perfumes and colognes around Mother’s and Father’s Day. There’s always a sale to look out for, including Back to School discounts, Summer sales, and, of course, the money saving extravaganza that is Black Friday.

Bag a Deal Beyond Black Friday

Black Friday officially crossed the pond in 2010 when Amazon ran UK Black Friday sales. Things didn’t pick up much steam until 2013, when Asda (owned by American retailer Walmart) ran their own sales, and it’s only grown since then.

In 2015, more than £3 billion was spent over Black Friday weekend, with Friday 27th itself being the biggest day of online sales for the UK ever (hitting £1.1 billion of revenue). Most people would assume that Black Friday is the best time to find your favourite items for less, however, a Which? investigation that tracked over 100 technology and home appliance deals before and after Black Friday, found that almost 40% of the products were being sold cheaper just a few weeks after the big sale had ended.

As a result, we wanted to uncover the secret sales that naturally occur for different products to help our community find the items they want at the best possible price. Simply select the month and identify the groceries or consumer goods most likely to be reduced.
